The 1st Burgess Hill is a dynamic Scout Group that helps over 120 young people enjoy fun and adventure while developing skills for life
With sections across multiple nights, our friendly leadership team is always kept busy and open to new members joining the team.
Here are just some of the positions you could help us with to make all the difference.

| Section Leaders
Supported by your fellow adult volunteers in the section, (Beavers, Cubs or Scouts), you’ll take responsibility for organising a well-rounded programme for the young people in the section. You will be supported by Assistant Section Leaders and Section Assistants. Training for the role is provided. For more information or to register your interest click here. |
Assistant Section Leaders
You will be an important part of the team delivering the programme to the young people in your chosen section. You, together with other Assistant Leaders, Section Assistants and the Section Leader are the team that deliver the programme to the young people in the section. Training for the role is provided and is the same as that for the Section Leader. For more information or to register your interest click here. |
Section Assistants
Your role is to be part of the team that delivers the programme to the young people in the section using your skills to complement the other members of the team. Training is provided for this role, but not necessarily as extensive as that of the other team members, although you can still undertake the other training modules if you wish. | Group Chair
As Group Chair, you chair the Group Executive Committee. The Executive Committee in Scouts is like a board of governors in a school. It exists to ensure that the infrastructure is in place for Scouting to function in the Group. This includes finances, premises and equipment. The Group Chair along with all Executive Members is a trustee of the Group. For more information or to register your interest click here. |
External Funding Chair
You would be responsible for one of the 3 income streams of the group – seeking and arranging funding to support the activities of the Scouting sections and the Executive Committee which in turn supports Scouting within the Group. (The other two income streams which fall outside the Funding Chair remit are Monthly Membership fees and Hall Hire). For more information or to register your interest click here. |
Parental representation
The group’s Executive Committee need parental representation to help ensure the infrastructure is in place to enable Scouting to function within the group. (see the Group Chair role). For more information or to register your interest click here. |
