Information for the Cub Scout

Being a Cub Scout means that you join the Scout Movement by making a Promise.  You will wear a uniform, which includes a Group scarf, and a set of badges.  Cubs meet once a week with a programme of fun activities such as making things, singing songs, playing games, looking at nature, outings, swimming, camping, learning how to be safe but most importantly making new friends.

Cub Scouts have many badges and awards to work for during their two and a half years with the pack.

They also have meetings with Cubs from other Groups in the District as well as joint meetings with other sections within their Group.

Each new Cub will be given a handbook which he will be required to bring every week.

THE PROMISE

I promise that I will do my best

To do my duty to God and to the Queen

To help other people

And to keep the Cub Scout Law

THE CUB SCOUT LAW

Cub Scouts always do their best

Think of others before themselves

And do a good turn every day.

Information for Cub Scout parents

Cub Scouts do not make their Promise until they have been in the Pack for a few weeks.  Parents are invited to the Promise Ceremony for which the  Cub Scout will need to be in uniform, which consists of a Green sweatshirt and Navy Blue Trousers. Uniform may be obtained from any Scout Shop outlet. The Group tee shirt is provided by the Cub section as part of the registration fee.

Cub Scouting is open to young people of all major denominations, faiths and all who can make the Cub Scout Promise.

The badges that the cubs earn go on their uniform.  Details of the badges that can be earned are available from the Cub Scout Leader. Further details of badges can also be found on the national Scout website scouts.org.uk. The placement of the badges can be found here
